Martin Hewett was born and raised in London, England and after receiving his BSEE and MBA in the UK, he joined Honeywell Information Systems Ltd., where he was the beneficiary of the Honeywell Management Leadership Program. Mr. Hewett spent 8 years with Honeywell in London after which he joined the UK office of Technicon Instruments Corporation. Over the course of 15 years with Technicon, he held several senior executive positions, spending 9 years in Paris as a global troubleshooter and most recently as President of Technicon Information Systems before moving to the US in 1982 as President of Technicon Data Systems Corporation.
Currently Martin is a Partner at Highland Partners, a Hudson Highland Group Inc. Worldwide Executive Search organization based in Encino, California. Retained by corporate boards, investors and senior executives, Martin has consistently delivered CEO and Senior Executive candidates who have had a significant impact on their company's performance. Hewett relies upon his extensive operational experience gained over a 27-year period within industrial, manufacturing, technology, communications, software and information technology companies, combining domestic and international management expertise to provide guidance and counseling to his clients.
A decisive, articulate and dynamic leader, whose powerful skills in all phases of running hi-tech businesses for profit have been highly effective in creating his technology executive search practice, he has also demonstrated outstanding achievements in turn-around situations, creating profits, product development, rapid sales growth, superior marketing techniques, effective professional services and strategic planning.
Immediately prior to entering executive search, Martin was the Chief Executive Officer of Enterprise Solutions Limited, a California based software company dominant in the messaging and EDI niche market. Here he turned the company around from a major loss to cash positive in four months; raised an additional $7 million from new and existing investors and returned a gain to the investors by selling the company.
Martin raised $8.5 million in venture funding to divest a division from Computer Associates at the time they acquired the $500 million software company, Legent Corporation. As President of the resulting company, Panorama Software Corporation, he immediately acquired Network Telemetrics Inc. and ProView, the only real time network response measurement software tool and 6 months later introduced DataLight, the first of a family of unique solutions for open enterprise back-up management. At Legent he had been Vice President & General Manager for the Information Integrity Division and previously Vice President with Goal Systems International, a company acquired by Legent.
Earlier he was President of Essential Software Corp. and President and CEO at Porton Instruments Corp. a start-up biotechnology instrumentation venture which he grew into a mature operating company with $4 million revenues in 12 months.
A graduate of S.W. Essex Polytechnic, UK: with a BSEE equivalent, and an MBA from Southampton University, UK. Martin Hewett is a Fellow of the British Institute of Management. Married with four adult children, he is bi-lingual (English and French) and a British and Naturalized US Citizen.
